The XBA's 12th Annual Bike to the Shore Event

Benefits The San Miguel School of Camden and Cristo Rey Philadelphia

Welcome to the Official Registration Site of XBA 2011. On this site you can register for the Xtreme Bike to the Shore as a participant, volunteer or make a donation.

The Xtreme Biker Association's annual marquee event, the Xtreme Bike to the Shore will take place over Memorial Day Weekend on Saturday, May 28, 2011. For riders and pace cars, CHALK TALK will begin at 7:30 am on Waterworks Drive behind Philadelphia Art Museum. The OFFICIAL START to our 75 mile cycling adventure will follow at 8:00 am. The XBA Postgame BBQ will take place Saturday afternoon following the ride (around 4pm). This year the XBA Postgame BBQ will for the first time take place at the Women’s Civic Club of Stone Harbor, located at 96th Street and the Beach in Stone Harbor. By popular demand, Spanky’s BBQ will be returning to the XBA as the official BBQ provider of the XBA. All RIDERS, SUPPORTERS and FRIENDS OF THE XBA are welcome and encouraged to attend. T-shirts, live music, Spanky’s BBQ and cold refreshments will be provided for ALL participants. We are excited to welcome Yuengling, America’s oldest brewery, as the official beer sponsor of XBA 2012. This year’s postgame BBQ will feature the XBA’s first official YUENGLING BEACHSIDE BEER GARDEN.

XBA Mission - Over the last five years, one XBA mission has been to channel the incredible enthusiasm generated by the XBA peloton to benefit inner city education. In this spirit, we teamed up with the San Miguel School of Camden New Jersey over the last four years. Unfortunately, at the end of this school year (and after 13 years) the San Miguel School will be closing its doors, primarily due to insufficient funding. For the rest of the school year, Brother Joseph Juliano and the rest of the team at San Miguel will be focused on placing San Miguel students into five local Catholic Middle Schools (each school has some tuition) and three local Charter Schools (no tuition but spaces are limited). Attending any of these schools will enable San Miguel students to continue the positive development they started at San Miguel. One quarter (25%) of the proceeds from this year’s XBA will be used to fund scholarships for San Miguel students at these schools.

Cristo Rey Philadelphia - The remaining proceeds from this year’s XBA will be used to help fund the launching of a new Cristo Rey Network School in Philadelphia. The new high school is scheduled to open in North Philadelphia in the Fall of 2012. Once fully opened, the school will serve approximately 500 male and female students that need economic assistance to realize their full potential. The most unique aspect of a Cristo Rey school is that students work in a corporate office 1 day per week. The salaries earned by the students fund 65% of the annual operating budget of the school (and students also gain valuable working experience). There are currently 22 Cristo Rey schools in the US and student employers include HSBC, Best Buy, Coca Cola, Deloitte, Deutsche Bank , ING, JPMorgan, KPMG, Pfizer, PWC, Sidley Austin and hundreds of others. Each Cristo Rey school is funded and operated independently. The Philadelphia school's start-up capital campaign is set to launch this summer and we hope that XBA will provide an early spark to the campaign.

XBA History – Over the last 12 years, the XBA has grown from two mud bogging bikers in 2000 to over 80 eXtreme bikers in 2010. The XBA family, now comprised of several hundred, consists of individuals that hail from across the U.S. and abroad.

Whether you are an XBA veteran or rookie, a biker or a supporter, we hope you will join us for the 12th Annual Bike to the Shore and/or the XBA Postride BBQ. Thank you very much for your support, generosity and participation.

Let's get eXtreme!
